💬 About this Gathering
The holiday season often comes with pressure for picture-perfect moments, much like a romantic dramedy. But as the film Love Actually famously reminds us, love is messy, complicated, and rarely simple. It shows us the friendships we lean on, the quiet losses we navigate, the unspoken hopes we carry, the mistakes we regret, and the love that got away.
Joni Mitchell, whose music is a pivotal part of the film, calls this our "emotional education." This December, we’re dedicating a night to our own.
Join Cassandra Stark, author and creator of The BeMo Practice, for a guided journaling circle to write through the real, multifaceted stories of love in your life. We will use the film's themes as a gentle mirror for our own experiences, creating a space for honest reflection without the pressure of perfection.
✨ What You’ll Experience
Grounded Teaching: Cassandra Stark will guide you through themes from Love Actually to explore your own unique "emotional education," Joni Mitchell style.
Gentle Breath + Clearing: We begin by creating a cozy, safe space, releasing holiday pressure, and setting a clear intention. Quiet presence is always full participation.
Guided Writing for Your Story: You'll be led through thoughtful prompts inspired by the film's characters and relationships to truthfully explore the love, loss, and hope in your own life. This isn’t about perfect writing—it’s about honest writing.
Reflection + Support: We end with space to integrate our insights. Sharing is always optional, but the support of the circle is always present as we hold space for the many ways love shows up in our lives.

🎟️ What To Bring
If you have one, bring your BeMo Journal. If you want one, 1974 Bookstore will have journals available for purchase. If not, any notebook will do.
Bring your own pillows, blankets, or whatever you want to feel comfortable and cozy while writing through ~90 minutes of practice. We will have some chairs and comfy areas provided, but you are welcome to sit anywhere with your own goodies.
